Go Local Wednesdays – Ollie’s Public House

OlliesOllie’s Public House, which sits at the corner of Par & Edgewater in College Park, is truly an experience every Orlandoan must have!  I was first introduced to the location when it was Jax’s 5th Ave in 2010.  In 2012, ownership changed and Caitlin Van Voorhis went to work bringing the bar into the 21st century!  Caitlin, who also owns Finnhenry’s Public House, which is located in downtown Orlando, and the new Van Barry, in south Orlando, is well seasoned in bar/restaurant management.  She began work by changing the floor layout, put in a new bar and bar stools, and upgraded the TV’s.  She kept the overall atmosphere casual, for those loyal locals who have been coming in for years.  If you look hard enough you can find some of the original Jax’s stools that are labeled with the regular’s names on a small gold plate in the seat.  Today, though, you are likely to be met with a much younger crowd who fill the seats nightly for the live music, extensive beer selections and of course — the pickle back shots!  If you haven’t had the chance to try Ollie’s Public House, I highly recommend you do.  Bring your fur-baby (dog) and sit on the patio, or bring your friends and enjoy the evening.  Just make sure you’re doing it in public!
