Who Says There’s Nothing To Do In Orlando? – Paddleboard Orlando Friendly First Timers Tour

The best part of living in Central Florida is all of the lakes for boating, fishing, and paddleboarding. Wait, you’ve never paddleboarded before?

Oh you have to try it! It’s so much fun!

You’re nervous?

No you don’t need to be, it’s way easier than you think it is.

Okay, well since you’ve never been before, you should check out Paddeboard Orlando! Every Saturday they host tours on the Winter Park Chain of Lakes specifically aimed at people who are new to paddleboarding. It’s called the Friendly First Timer Tour. They launch from Dinky Dock on Lake Virginia in Winter Park (right next to Rollins College) every Saturday at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. -they do recommend showing up about 15 minutes early to find parking and to check in. The cost of the tour is $35 – that includes the board rental itself and a life vest. Just sign up online and you’re good to go.

The team of instructors are knowledgeable and and their number one priority is to make sure that you feel safe and comfortable, particularly Tenacious Tom and Uncle Ned – they lead the tours. They make you feel like family immediately. Before even getting on a board, each tour starts with an in depth lesson (on land) giving you all the essential information you need to know about how to paddle.

Once you’re out on the water, you paddle from Lake Virginia over to Lake Mizell through one of the canals that connect all the Winter Park lakes. They stop along the way so you don’t get too tired, they teach you fun tricks (like: surf stance, surf turns, and tree pose) and do group activities on the water.

The tour lasts about 90 minutes and is the perfect Saturday outing – you get your exercise for the day, get some sun, and just have a good time doing something you’ve never done before! How could you go wrong with a day like that? You can’t.

What’s your favorite thing to do on the lakes in Central Florida?
