This year is the 61st Annual Easter Egg Hunt in Winter Park.  The city hides 10,000 eggs throughout Central Park, children up to age 10 are welcome to join, everyone else can join in on the laughs!  The hunt begins at 10:00am but get there a little early to get a good spot as there will be lots of competition…but don’t worry, its very friendly competition! And its okay to come up empty handed because there are plenty of treats to be had at the treat table.

Where:  Central Park in Winter Park

When:  Saturday April 4th at 10:00 am

Today on our Tuesday Tour we are taking you on a tour of the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival!

We went to the 56th Annual Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival this past weekend!  It was quite warm but there was a beautiful breeze and when you caught some shade the temperature was just perfect.  There was a ton of amazing art, great food, and vendors.

The Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival is one of the nation’s oldest and largest outdoor art festivals.  This year over 1,100 artists from around the world applied for entry!  It has been named the best juried fine art fair by Art Fair Calendar (2013,2014).  It is ranked #1 best fine art and design show in the Southeast and #5 in the nation by Sunshine Artist Magazine (2014).  Two-hundred and twenty five artists were selected to exhibit their work the weekend.  This is just one of the many reasons Winter Park is such a desirable place to live!

This weekend is the 56th Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival.   It is one of the nation’s oldest, largest and most prestigious juried outdoor art festivals.  The very first festival was held on Park Avenue in 1960 by a handful of local art enthusiasts and featured 90 exhibiting artists.   Over the years the festival has grown so much and currently features 225 artists and is held on Park Avenue and in Central Park.

It is a great way to spend the weekend; Winter Park already has so much to offer, this just adds to it!  But let’s be honest,  Winter Park doesn’t really have the best parking availability on a non-festival weekend so you can only imagine what it will be like with an event that has over 350,000 attendees!  So this year SunRail has stepped in and is offering FREE service into Winter Park!  They have a set schedule for the festival here, take advantage, and make a day of it!

What:  Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival

When:  March 20th and 21st from 9am-6pm and March 22nd from 9am-5pm

Where:  On Park Avenue between Canton and New England and in Central Park

I don’t know about you but I love living in Orlando.  There is something special about watching a city grow around you.  I love the Downtown Orlando neighborhoods that are full of history and the juxtaposition with an ever growing cityscape.  I love seeing a new coffee shop or restaurant pop up in my neighborhood making it walk-able and making that city lifestyle so accessible even a few miles from the city center.

I must not be alone in my love for homes in Downtown Orlando.  Our very own 32801 zip code topped the most searched zip code list for 2014 on Realtor.com.  This popular Orlando zip code is home to our Central Business District, Thornton Park, and a few streets South of the 408 as well.do you love where you live

Do you love where you live?  There are so many great neighborhoods surrounding Downtown Orlando and Winter Park.  If you are craving a new home in Orlando in these walk-able and eclectic neighborhoods you have come to the right spot.

We set up a simple way to get started today.  Just visit www.HeartOrlandoHome.com and either start your search for your dream home or find out how much you have in equity in your current home to put towards the move.

Don’t forget to check out our new weekly post “Tuesday Tours”. Every Tuesday we’ll post a little something about the neighborhood along with a video so you can explore and get to know the neighborhoods surrounding downtown Orlando.

So, what’s your favorite neighborhood in Downtown Orlando?

Needed a photo of a bicycle lane marking for use in a SitePoint video tutorial. This is the best I could find. Took some Photoshopping to get rid of those silly extra circles.

Great things are happening locally in Downtown Orlando and the surrounding neighborhoods!  Our little city is growing up so fast, and it is so cool to watch and be a part of it.

Last week Orlando launched Orlando Bike Share and though I haven’t had a chance to use it myself I was pleasantly surprised to see them being used around town all of last weekend.  I love the idea of hopping on a bike and just riding around for the day, Florida has the best bike weather so Orlando Bike Share will definitely continue to gain popularity.

There are currently 4 hubs in the center of Downtown Orlando, with plans to add more on the Orlando MainStreets as well as I-Drive.   Imagine hopping on a bike Downtown for coffee, then pedaling on through Mills50 and Ivanhoe Village, and if you’re feeling adventurous, all the way Winter Park! Orlando is such a bikeable city!  Ride the bike lanes on the main roads or cruise through the brick paved back roads, no matter what route you take there is plenty to do along the way. They’ve made reserving bikes super easy with the use of an app, you see where bikes are available, and where you can drop them off.  You actually don’t even have to return them to a ‘hub’, for a fee you can leave it locked on any bike rack, awesome!  It is an affordable way to spend the day and an affordable cost if you’re looking for a better way to commute to and from work.  Plans start at $5/hour and go up to $99/year.  And for your businesses out there, there are a ton of sponsorship perks and even advertising opportunities.

Spend this weekend getting to know your city from a bike’s point of view!

IMG_04002015 is here and just like that the holiday season is coming to a close. For me the first weekend after the New Year is always a slow one, I need it to recover from the holiday rush, the festivities and the over consumption of food and beverage. It’s now time for all of us to focus on the road ahead,  it’s time to take down your décor, and it’s time to start your workout regime (because we all know that was your 2015 resolution).  So let’s take this weekend off,  focus on ourselves, reel it in and relax a little!  Who’s with me?

But, if relaxing isn’t really your thing there is still plenty to do around town.  If you haven’t had your fill of food and beverage why don’t you head over to Oblivion Taproom for the Terrapin Wake ‘n’ Bake Off, it is a homemade baked goods competition that must include Terrapin beer.  All proceeds of the $20 entry will go to St. Jude’s Pediatric Cancer Research.  Or get your yoga on followed by a little beer tasting with Yoga in the Pub,  a $15 class led by Firefly Yoga Company hosted in Rogue Pub, 1 hour yoga session followed with a beer tasting.  Are you seeing a theme here?  Lots of eating and drinking…but we did throw in some yoga… ya know…for your 2015 resolution and all.

If you’re looking for something more low key you could always head down to the Downtown Orlando or Winter Park Farmer’s Markets, both are always an ideal way to spend the day.

Terrapin Wake ‘n’ Bake Off – 1/3 @ 4pm

Yoga in the Pub – 1/3 @ 9:30am

Downtown Orlando Farmer’s Market – 1/4 @ 10am

Winter Park Farmer’s Market – 1/3 @ 7am
